Reindeer Poop | Holiday Filter Blend
Meet our special holiday release - Reindeer Poop! We went against our traditions this year, and we've bundled up THREE of our favourites, from our import partners at Osito, Cafe Imports and the good folk at Commonfolk who are doing the worlds best job at supporting producers through Zukkuka Bora.
Expect to taste: osmanthus, blackcurrant, cab sav, blueberry cheesecake, green melon, blood plum and tim tam
CORE INFO
TL;DR: POOP lol. A Christmas blend celebrating fruity flavours, amazing coffee producers, our import partners, our team, and all of you! People and flavour, the things that matter the most. And of course, an excuse to make poop jokes.
Stuff your stockings and put on a silly hat, this is Christmas in a cup!
Tis the season, and we (Dani) are releasing this coffee with the confidence of a middle-aged, middle-class white man who’s never been told no. Kinda like how Santa somehow has permission to break into everyone’s house and eat their cookies (rude).
It’s called Reindeer Poop because we assume, somewhat like unicorns, these magical creatures could only expel the sweetest of things (and honestly we ran out of ideas that weren’t childish).
We’ve broken a few traditions here this time. We’ve got 3 fantastic coffees, representing producer groups and import partners that we love working with, and we’ve gone for a different flavour profile to usual. Rather than the last few years where it’s been all tropical fruit and your nan’s pav, we’re doubling down on some jammy sweet red fruits and a bolder, richer flavour this time.
We are roasting this for espresso and filter brewing so no one has to miss out. This special release is only around till January, so jump on it!
From all of us here at Core, to you, your families and loved ones - especially the puppies - we want to say thank you for your support in 2025, have a great Chrimbo Limbo (yea we had to google that one too), and we can't wait to be up in your mugs in 2026!
While this is all a bit silly, we want to give a sincere thank you to Cafe Imports, Osito Coffee, Commonfolk Coffee and Zukuka Bora for the extraordinary coffees that make up this blend. It’s the hard work of these businesses that mean we have the sheer joy of sharing delicious coffees while living our best 12yo fantasies of saying poop on Instagram.
Happy holidays everyone, thanks for your support, raise a glass of reindeer poop and say goodbye 2025 ☕️❤️
BREWING SUGGESTIONS
We prefer our filter brews from a v60, but we won’t judge for use of anything at all to make yourself a coffee - even a (clean) sock.
Our recommended ratio when brewing filter coffee is 60g of coffee per litre of water. Simply scale this down, or up, for your desired size of brew.
With all methods, you’ll want: a grind size similar to granulated sugar, boiling water, and about 3 minutes of brewing time. This goes for v60, aeropress, plunger, and the (still hopefully clean) sock.
Our favourite recipe for v60:
- 20g of medium to coarsely ground coffee, it’ll feel a little like granulated sugar.
- Set your kettle to boil, and ready your socks to be rocked.
- We use a 60g bloom, with a swirl of the slurry to make sure it’s all wet. You can stir of that’s easier, just don’t rip the paper!
- After that, when your timer is at 45 seconds, add more water to a total of 200g, and swirl gently.
- Then finally at 1:15 on your timer, add the rest of your water, to 330g, and do one last little swirl.
- Wait till it drains through, roughly 3:30 is a good time, pour into your favourite mug, and let those socks be rocked.
